Walt Disney Travel Company has made a big change to their cancellation/refund policy for travel dates in 2014 for Walt Disney World Packages. It is very important that you always read the Terms & Conditions very closely when booking any vacation. You want to know what happens in case you have to cancel at any point after your trip has been booked.
How has the cancellation and refund policy changed? Previously if you booked a Walt Disney World Package and needed to cancel within 45 days of your trip, there was a $200 cancellation fee and the remainder of your trip would be refunded. The NEW policy reads as follows:
Cancellation of Reservation – For cancellations made 45 days or more prior to guest
arrival, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees assessed by third party hotels or other
suppliers, vacation insurance premiums, and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For
cancellations made 2 days to 44 days prior to guest arrival, amounts paid, minus a
cancellation fee of $200.00 per package and minus any cancellation fees assessed by third
party hotels or other suppliers, vacation insurance and other amounts owed, will be
refunded. For cancellations made 1 day or less prior to guest arrival, the full price of the
package is non-refundable.
This is a rather big change. If you did not believe Vacation Protection was important, this should make you rethink that. I always recommend adding it to your Disney vacation package. There is nothing worse than having an unforseen emergency take place the day before your about to head off on vacation.
We are seeing more and more changes happening to Disney and their policies, so make sure to always read and protect your vacation.
